Sebastian Borek, a renowned figure in the tech industry, is set to join the High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) as a managing director. Borek, who hails from a Braunschweig entrepreneur family, brings over 25 years of international experience in building digital business models and venture capital structures to the table.

The HTGF, one of Europe's most active seed investors, has been a driving force in the startup ecosystem since 2005. With a fund volume of over two billion euros, the fund has backed over 780 companies in areas such as Deeptech, Climatetech, Digitaltech, Industrialtech, Life Sciences, Chemistry, and more.

Borek's expertise lies in Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and B2B SaaS, and he will take over responsibility for the Digitaltech investment area in the HTGF. His deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges of digital technologies and business models will undoubtedly contribute to the fund's continued success.

Armgard Wippler, chairwoman of the HTGF investment advisory board and a ministerial director in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, is looking forward to working with Borek. She believes that his appointment will set important impulses for the further success story of the fund and the strengthening of the innovation location Germany.

Wippler is joined by Romy Schnelle and Achim Plum in the newly formed HTGF management team. Schnelle will focus on the Industrialtech sector, while Plum will focus on Life Sciences & Chemistry.

Before joining the HTGF, Borek founded successful tech ventures in New York and Europe. He became known as an angel investor, advisory board member, family entrepreneur, CEO of Peruya Asset Management, and co-founder of the Founders Foundation in Bielefeld. He also launched the "Hinterland of Things" conference.

With Borek's excellent national and international network, the HTGF is poised to continue its mission of supporting innovative startups and fostering growth in the German and European tech ecosystem. As of October 13, 2025, Borek will officially join the HTGF management team.
