The Louisiana Gaming Control Board recently reported an impressive gambling haul of $198.2 million this February, marking a 2% leap compared to the previous year. New Orleans truly shined, with its gaming district scoring a 24% revenue surge, thanks to an 81.6% revenue spike at Treasure Chest Casino in Kenner, Louisiana.
However, if you strip away Treasure Chest and Caesars New Orleans, land-based casino revenue saw a 5% dip year-over-year.
Online sports betting revenues soared to $51.3 million, up a whopping 69% from February 2024. The total wagered amount, or handle, jumped by 41% to $356 million.
Properties in the Lake Charles districtplumped down $69.6 million, showing a minimal 0.3% decrease compared to February 2024. Golden Nugget Lake Charles chipped in an impressive $24.8 million, notching up a modest 0.1% rise compared to the previous year. Treasure Chest scored $12.5 million, while Boomtown Casino & Hotel posted a 6.8% increase in revenue, hitting $10 million.
Shreveport/Bossier City properties reported a disappointing $41 million compared to February 2024's $48.1 million, with a 14.8% decrease. Margaritaville Resort Casino dipped 11.9% to $14.7 million. Horseshoe Bossier City felt the burn with a 18.5% fall, earning $8,6 million. Bally's Shreveport Casino & Hotel, however, managed a slip of only 12.1%, bringing in $8.3 million.
The Baton Rouge district reported a meager 0.8% decrease compared to February 2024, with $22.6 million in revenue. L'Auberge Casino Hotel led the district, but with a 7.6% dip to $13.8 million. The Queen of Baton Rouge actually showed a strong 14.8% rise to $8.3 million. The Belle of Baton Rouge, however, struggled with a 19.5% drop, bringing in $0.5 million.
Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in St. Landry Parish saw a 4.2% decline, earning $5.9 million.
