Increase in gambling taxes proposed, affordability measures planned, and elimination of in-play betting considered in Massachusetts

The bill also targets the high-risk nature of in-play betting. It aims to shutter in-play betting, a feature that allows gamblers to place bets while a sports event is in progress, due to concerns about reckless spending and addiction.
