Increase in auto insurance rates in Wolfenbüttel

The Association of German Insurers (GDV) has announced changes to the Regional Classes of approximately 413 registration districts in Germany, affecting over 10 million car drivers. These changes, which are calculated annually by the GDV, determine the insurance benefits for injured third parties in traffic accidents.

The Regional Classes, which also apply to comprehensive and partial coverage insurance, are not binding for insurance companies but can be used for both new and existing insurance contracts. Starting from the next insurance year, the district of Wolfenbüttel will see a higher Regional Class, potentially leading to increased insurance costs due to a worse claims record in that area. The district has a higher classification with an index of 84.82.

For 48 districts and around 5 million car drivers, the GDV has calculated higher Regional Classes, while for 51 districts and around 5.3 million people, the classes have been calculated lower. These changes apply to the motor vehicle liability insurance and can affect the insurance benefits for injured third parties in traffic accidents.

Jörg Asmussen, CEO of GDV, has stated that the Regional Classes are changing for more than ten million car drivers in Germany. Car owners can query the respective Regional Class online, and the changes in Regional Classes can be queried online as well. The Regional Classes for comprehensive and partial coverage insurance are also subject to change.

It is important to note that the Regional Classes calculated by the GDV are non-binding for insurance companies and can be applied immediately for new contracts and for existing contracts from the next insurance year.
