Rhineland-Palatinate Sees Increase in High-Performing Graduates
In a noteworthy development, Rhineland-Palatinate, a state in Germany, has witnessed an increase in the number of high-performing graduates, according to the State Statistical Office in Bad Ems.
The office reported that in the past year, a significant 27% of graduates achieved a "very good" or "excellent" GPA. This percentage is notably higher than the figure from 2014, marking a substantial improvement over the years.
The cohorts that experienced many restrictions due to COVID-19 measures particularly stood out, with a notable number of students achieving impressive GPAs. The average GPA at universities in Rhineland-Palatinate last year was 2.1.
Business Administration was the most popular field of study, with approximately 1,300 Bachelor's and Master's degrees awarded in this subject last year. A total of around 11,800 people graduated with a Bachelor's degree, and approximately 8,400 people graduated with a Master's degree.
Interestingly, the average GPA at universities in Rhineland-Palatinate was 0.2 percentage points better than it was ten years ago. However, in 2021 and 2022, the GPAs averaged below 2.0.
The university in Rhineland-Palatinate where most of the mentioned scientific effort was supported is the University of Trier, which received around 750,000 euros for a research project under the funding line "Forschungskollegs Rheinland-Pfalz" promoting interdisciplinary research on sustainability.
