On Tuesday morning (11.2.), a head-on collision occurred on Rothenbergstraße, heading towards Gerresheim. The incident involved two cars: a Ford Puma and a VW ID.3.

According to initial reports, the 65-year-old driver of the Ford Puma, a man from Waltrop, attempted to overtake and pulled into the opposite lane, causing the collision. As a result, both vehicles were severely damaged and had to be towed away.

The driver of the VW ID.3, a 30-year-old man from Naumburg (Saale), sustained minor injuries. Unfortunately, the 65-year-old driver of the Ford Puma sustained life-threatening injuries and was trapped in the vehicle, requiring extrication by firefighters. The 66-year-old passenger in the Ford Puma was also injured, albeit severely.

Following the collision, multiple callers dialed the emergency number, prompting the immediate dispatch of firefighters, paramedics, and police to the scene. Firefighters not only provided assistance to the injured parties but also absorbed the spill of operating fluids at the scene.

The police's accident recording team took over the scene to investigate the cause of the accident. The accident investigation team assigned to the incident on February 11, 2025, is not publicly disclosed. The investigation is ongoing.

The accident caused traffic disruptions during the morning, as Rothenbergstraße was closed for several hours. All three injured parties were transported to hospitals for further medical treatment.
