Incarceration commences for a 32-year-old following holiday break
In a significant development, a 32-year-old German was apprehended by the Federal Police at Magdeburg Central Station on October 3, 2024, at around 2:00 PM. The man was wanted due to an enforcement warrant issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Potsdam.
The warrant, which was issued in July of 2024, stemmed from a fraud conviction by the Regional Court in Brandenburg an der Havel in January 2022. The man was sentenced to a fine of 1,000 euros or 50 days in prison, but he only managed to pay 100 euros.
Despite a proper summons, he failed to appear for the enforcement of the sentence. In an attempt to raise the remaining 900 euros, he contacted a family member and a friend, but was unsuccessful.
Upon being arrested, the man was taken to the station where the Federal Police officers carried out a check. This check revealed the enforcement warrant issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Potsdam. The Federal Police later handed him over to a detention facility in the afternoon.
