In under an hour, Battlefield 6 surpasses a crucial sales figure previously held by Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

Battlefield 6, the highly-anticipated instalment in the popular first-person shooter series, was revealed to the world on July 24, 2021. The reveal trailer, posted on YouTube, quickly garnered attention, with 391k likes within just a few hours.

However, the response from the Battlefield community on the Battlefield Subreddit has been mixed. Some users have expressed hope that Battlefield 6 will outperform its rival, Call of Duty, after a series of inconsistent releases in recent years. One user attributed the success of the Battlefield 6 reveal trailer to Call of Duty delivering an inferior product year after year.

Yet, others have voiced concerns about Battlefield 6 not meeting expectations, citing underperformance in previous years, particularly Battlefield 1. A third user commented on the return of tribalism, with fans expressing a desire for Battlefield to improve and surpass Call of Duty.

The development of Battlefield 6 is being handled by the Battlefield Studios, a collective of studios including DICE, Criterion Games, Motive Studios, and Ripple Effect Studios. DICE is leading the multiplayer development, while Motive and Criterion are responsible for the single-player campaign development.

Meanwhile, the teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, released earlier, had only 140k likes on YouTube, a significant difference compared to the reception of the Battlefield 6 reveal trailer. This has further fueled the competitive spirit among fans, with some users predicting that Battlefield 6 will sell more copies than Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

As the release date for Battlefield 6 has yet to be announced, fans will have to wait and see if their hopes and expectations will be met. The Battlefield community is eagerly awaiting more updates and trailers to get a better idea of what to expect from the next instalment in the series.
