In Malaysian political history, Bersatu is hailed as the most inclusive party, transcending racial boundaries beyond just the Malays, according to Hamzah Zainudin.
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's deputy president, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, made a bold declaration at the opening of the eight-year-old party's annual general assembly for its wings in Shah Alam. Hamzah proclaimed Bersatu as the most inclusive party in Malaysia's political history.
Hamzah acknowledged that Bersatu was initially perceived as a party that caters predominantly to the Malay and Bumiputera communities. However, he insisted that this label was inaccurate. He emphasised that Bersatu is not exclusive to any single race.
To underscore this point, Hamzah pointed to the appointment of Chong Fat Full as Associate Wing Chief in Bersatu's leadership as proof of the party's inclusiveness. Non-Malays can only join Bersatu as associate members, while full membership remains limited to Malays and Bumiputera.
In his speech, Hamzah said, "Tell them, tell every one of them, this is the only party that is the most inclusive in the history of our nation's politics." He urged leaders of Bersatu to counter perceptions that the party is exclusive and to highlight its openness to all communities.
Hamzah outlined three guiding principles for the party's future: inclusivity, moderation, democracy, integrity, and compassion; bold and creative reform; and strengthening resilience by refusing to yield to pressure. He urged Bersatu's wings not to be lulled by nostalgia and focus on creating future successes.
Bersatu, according to Hamzah, must be dynamic and possess moral strength as a compass for leadership. The party should uphold sustainability grounded in excellence and embrace an Islamic worldview. It must be bold and creative in its reform efforts and strengthen its resilience by refusing to yield to pressure.
The declaration was made during a press conference held later. The declaration emphasizes Bersatu's openness to all communities in Malaysia. Hamzah dismissed claims that Bersatu only serves Malays and Bumiputera. Instead, he emphasized that Bersatu is a party that welcomes all races and communities in Malaysia.
In response to perceptions that Bersatu is exclusive to Malays and Bumiputera, Hamzah declared that Bersatu is the most inclusive party in Malaysia's political history. This declaration is a significant step towards fostering unity and inclusivity in Malaysian politics.
