In Gütersloh, festivities ensue to honor the multiplicity of Fair Trade products and cultures

Gütersloh, a Fairtrade City, is gearing up for its annual Fair Week, taking place from 12 to 26 September 2025. This nationwide campaign for fair trade is Germany's largest annual event, with around 2,000 actions nationwide.

The Fair Week in Gütersloh is a celebration of global Fair Trade and local activities in the city. The programme includes a diverse range of activities, with the World Shop at the heart of the celebrations. On 13 September, the World Shop in Gütersloh will be marking its 30th anniversary during the Fair Week.

The World Shop anniversary event promises a fun-filled day for all, with children's activities, a photo action, tasting stands, a wheel of fortune, and a wine stand. For those interested in learning more about fair trade, there will be opportunities to have a cup of fair coffee and learn about engagement opportunities on 20 September.

On 22 September, practical activities such as calculating ecological footprints, learning climate-friendly tips, and DIY activities are offered on Berliner Platz. A fair breakfast, featuring vegan spreads, will be hosted at the House of Encounter on 17 September.

The Fair Week is organised by the Forum Fair Trade in cooperation with the World Shop Association and Fairtrade Germany. The steering group Fair Trade will present itself at the Citizens' Day on the Theodor-Heuss-Platz on 20 September.

For the first time, a Fairtrade flag will fly on the town hall square throughout the entire Fair Week. A lecture about the history and future of Fair Trade is held in the World Shop on 23 September.

Specific initiatives and groups involved in the Fair Trade program during the Fair Week are not detailed in the available search results. However, similar Fair Week activities in nearby towns like Lügde involve the city administration, local kindergartens, and regional producers in actions promoting fair trade and sustainable consumption.
