In-car entertainment takes a new level as Porsche integrates gaming through AirConsole app.
In a groundbreaking move for the automotive industry, Porsche has announced that it will be integrating AirConsole's in-car gaming platform into its new Macan model. This partnership, which will be unveiled at the IAA Motor Show in Munich, Germany next month, marks Porsche's entry into the world of in-car gaming, joining the likes of BMW, Mini, Audi, and Volkswagen.
Anthony Cliquot, CEO of AirConsole, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating that it is a significant indicator of AirConsole's growth in the automotive industry. Mr. Cliquot believes that gaming has a meaningful role in the future of mobility and that AirConsole is leading the evolution of this trend.
The AirConsole technology will allow Macan drivers and passengers to play a range of games from a specially curated library. Players will need a Porsche Connect account to download the AirConsole app, which is available in almost every region around the world apart from China. To play, passengers connect their smartphones to use as controllers.
However, safety remains a priority. Porsche's screen privacy feature ensures that the driver cannot see what is on the passenger display, maintaining a distraction-free driving experience. When the Macan is parked, up to five players can use the central touchscreen for multi-player gaming sessions.
The gaming experience on the front-passenger display is designed for non-driving occupants only. The Macan will offer access to more than 40 games, including popular titles such as Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, Overcooked, and Uno Card Party.
Anthony Cliquot, CEO of AirConsole, stated that the collaboration with Porsche is a significant step for AirConsole, as it has partnered with multiple car brands in just two years since its launch. He believes that gaming has a significant role in the future of mobility, and AirConsole is leading the way in this exciting new direction.
