In-app Financial Deposits introduced by Tide to mobilize untapped funds of small and medium enterprises
In a move aimed at digitising and democratising financial access for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in India, Tide, a leading financial platform, has launched Fixed Deposit (FD) investments within its app. This expansion is part of Tide's mission to provide a holistic ecosystem tailored to Indian SMEs, transforming into a comprehensive financial operating system.
With the integration of FD investments, Tide aims to enhance SME access to financial products, addressing the challenge of over 85% of SME funds remaining locked in low- or zero-interest current accounts. The FD feature, offered by RBI-regulated banks and Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs), offers competitive interest rates of up to 8.84% per annum with flexible tenure options ranging from 7 days to 6 years.
Users can complete Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures, select an issuer, and receive FD receipts all within the Tide app. The FD investments are securely redirected to a compliant investment flow through secure APIs powered by technology service provider Blostem. Tide partners with trusted, RBI-regulated institutions for regulatory compliance and deposit safety.
Tide's platform now caters to the evolving needs of India's entrepreneurial economy, offering digital payments, working capital optimisation services, business onboarding (Udyam registration), and government scheme discovery. By embedding investment capabilities into a unified platform, Tide reinforces a values-aligned, inclusive approach to digital transformation.
The launch marks a significant step forward in Tide's mission to provide a secure, scalable, and long-term valuable digital solution for small businesses across the country. Tide works with local partner banks in the EU to offer FD products for SMEs, although specific financial institutions collaborating with Tide for these offers are not named explicitly in the available sources.
As Tide's platform continues to expand, it is poised to unlock better yield opportunities for Indian SMEs, moving towards becoming a comprehensive financial operating system. With investments starting at just $11.40, Tide's FD solution is accessible to micro and small businesses alike, democratising financial access and driving India's entrepreneurial growth.
