St. Johannis-Spital-Stift Passau Foundation Announces Progress on Assisted Living Community

The St. Johannis-Spital-Stift Passau Foundation has announced exciting developments in the construction of their new assisted living community at Rindermarkt and Donaulände. The project, overseen by the architectural group Peter Haimerl Architekten, is making significant strides, with various aspects of construction set to commence soon.

The demolition of the old building will be carried out concurrently with the new construction, ensuring a swift transition. Underpinning foundations will be built in June to stabilize the foundation, paving the way for the concrete work scheduled to begin in early July. Work on scaffolding, drywall, plastering, windows, and electrical installation will soon follow.

The new building will span two basement levels, four upper floors, and stand approximately 18 meters tall. A total of 50 apartments with a lettable living area of around 2,720 square meters are planned, including barrier-free and wheelchair-accessible units. The future roof will be covered with integrated solar panels, providing an eco-friendly solution for heating the building.

For the convenience of residents and visitors, approximately 50 parking spaces will be created in the two basement levels. A small community room is also planned on the ground floor, offering a space for social interaction and activities.

In March 2023, the city council initiated the restructuring of the project, taking it under their purview after its initial management by the St. Johannis-Spital-Stift Passau Foundation. The old garage will be shortened by approximately 70 cm on both levels for static reasons, and fire protection will be improved.

The St. Johannis-Spital-Stift Passau Foundation will continue to provide nursing and social services in the completed living facility, ensuring the highest quality of care for its residents. The foundation, in collaboration with the city council, is committed to creating a warm and welcoming environment for those in need of assisted living services.
