The Valladolid International Film Week, a prestigious event in the film industry, is gearing up for its 70th edition, set to take place from October 24 to November 1. The festival is known for showcasing a diverse range of films and this year is no exception.

New Titles to Look Forward To

Among the new titles gracing the screens this year is 'La risa y la navaja', an epic film about a humanitarian worker in post-colonial Africa, directed by Pedro Pinho. Another noteworthy addition is 'Growing Down', a moral drama by debutant Balint Daniel Sós.

'Death Does Not Exist', an adult animation proposal by Félix Dufour-Laperrière, and 'The Luminous Life', a film likened to the cinema of Rohmer or Jonas Trueba by Portuguese director João Rosas, are also part of the lineup.

Recognition for Emerging Talent

A new award, the ESCAC Award, will be given for the best director of a first or second film among the participants in the Punto de Encontro section. The award is worth 5,000 euros for the director.

Poster Design for the 70th Edition

The creators of the poster for the 70th edition of the Valladolid International Film Week aimed to establish a visual identity and create a base for long-term use. The poster features strong geometric lines for varied and diverse applications, based on a geometric figure resembling a circle. The design is simple, powerful, dynamic, and has vivid colors, reminiscent of the psychedelic art of the 60s and 70s.

Other Exciting Titles

'Phantoms of July' by German director Julian Radlmaier explores social class division, while 'Between Dreams and Hope' is a new title by the Iranian Farnoosh Samadi. 'A Sad and Beautiful World' stars Mounia Akl in a film by Lebanese filmmaker Cyril Aris.

'¿Cara o cruz?' is a western revision by the Italians Alessio Rigo de Righi and Matteo Zoppis. Lastly, 'A Sad and Beautiful World' is another intriguing title, a revision of the western genre by the Italians Alessio Rigo de Righi and Matteo Zoppis.

PobrelaVaca Studio took on the challenge of creating the new logo for the Valladolid International Film Week a year ago. The poster for the 70th edition of the festival was presented by Ana Ma Hernández and Félix Rodríguez, heads of PobrelaVaca Studio.
