In the heart of the city, illegal gaming dens have been bustling, mainly nestled in the ground floors of residential buildings and hidden in separate rooms. Recent raids yielded quite a haul - 815 system units, 865 monitors, 150 all-in-ones, routers, and switches were confiscated. These establishments cater to a diverse clientele, with many players opting to pay not only in hryvnia but also in cryptocurrency.

Customers slide their cash across the counter and receive a special code as their ticket to the gaming world. This covert method allows illegal gamblers to conceal their cash turnover, according to the authorities.

Despite the crackdown, these underground gaming halls continue to thrive. Historical records indicate that these activities have been a part of Ukraine's underground scene, particularly before the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (KRAIL) was established in 2020. However, the specific methods these halls use to evade authorities remain shrouded in mystery.

There are whispers of money laundering and unreported transactions, but solid evidence is scarce. The landscape of Ukraine's gambling sector has seen significant changes since the dissolution of KRAIL and the transfer of its functions to a new regulatory body, aiming to bring increased scrutiny and control over these activities.
