Illegal Activities Unveiled: Smuggling Operation Revealed at BPOLI LUD
The Federal Police in Ludwigsdorf are currently investigating a smuggling duo based in Berlin, who are suspected of multiple instances of migrant smuggling. The duo, a 33-year-old Ukrainian male driver and a 28-year-old Ukrainian female passenger, have been under the scrutiny of the authorities following two smuggling incidents uncovered during temporary border controls in Görlitz and Bad Muskau last weekend.
In one of the incidents, a minibus coming from Poland was stopped in Bad Muskau on Sunday. The minibus was carrying 11 passengers, including 2 women, a teenager, and 8 children, all from Ukraine. The drivers of the minibus were a 33-year-old and a 28-year-old Ukrainian, but there was an additional passenger, a 35-year-old Vietnamese man, who may have been living in Poland illegally without a residence permit or German visa.
The Ukrainian woman is also suspected of forgery, as her Ukrainian driver's license was found to be fake. The man in the duo has a criminal record for suspected smuggling of foreigners, with a previous incident in December last year. He was caught smuggling by colleagues from the neighboring northern service unit in Forst during that incident.
Another smuggling attempt involved a second Vietnamese man, 26, who was found in the back seat of a vehicle without a German visa. He had paid the other two individuals 600 euros to bring him to Germany. However, the passengers' plan to be smuggled into Germany without being detected failed, and they have since been turned back to Poland.
The man had to post a security deposit of 1,300 euros, and the woman 700 euros, before they were allowed to leave the service. The trio, including the Vietnamese man, are suspected of illegal entry, and the Ukrainian woman and older Vietnamese man face charges for smuggling foreigners.
