Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the star of this year's IFA trade show in Berlin, taking centre stage as the "invisible operating system" of the event. With AI playing a significant role in the future of smart homes, the exhibition offers a glimpse into a world where technology seamlessly integrates into daily life.

The IFA, now known as "Innovation For All," hosts 1900 exhibitors, showcasing a wide range of innovations. Among them, companies like Miele, Roborock, and Samsung are showcasing AI-supported kitchen appliances and automated cleaning robots.

Miele, renowned for its smart cooking pots and AI-enabled ovens and grills, demonstrates how modern ovens can suggest recipes, select optimal cooking programs, and calculate baking time without the need for human intervention. On the other hand, Roborock presents its AI-powered Qrevo Curv 2 Pro cleaning robot, capable of recognizing items on the carpet that should not be vacuumed, such as a shoelace, with the help of a camera and AI analysis.

Sustainability is another top theme at IFA 2023. Experts estimate that "refurbished" devices account for around ten percent of the smartphone market, reflecting a growing focus on environmental responsibility.

For those seeking entertainment, the IFA features an open-air program with German rock bands Deine Cousine, Evil Jared, Joy Denalane, Max Herre, and Ikkimel, adding a musical touch to the event.

Admission for adults at the IFA is €19.50, while children under 16 can enter for free. The exhibition offers a "Mobility Track" for testing new E-bikes and E-scooters, a "Beauty Hub" focused on care products, and a gaming area for the younger audience.

Market research firm NIQ observes that robots are taking over daily household tasks, including vacuuming, window cleaning, and lawnmowing. Chinese manufacturers are pushing into the market with short innovation cycles and aggressive pricing strategies, according to NIQ's analysis.

Air fryers, popular among small electrical appliances, represent new consumption patterns focused on healthy eating, energy efficiency, speed, and easy preparation. Alexander Dehmel, NIQ expert for technical consumer goods, stated that air fryers address several major themes in German society.

The combination of retailer guarantee, new housing, and tested technology creates a real alternative for many buyers, according to NIQ market researchers. Modern lawnmowers no longer require boundary cables and can independently determine where they can move using AI, allowing them to navigate around obstacles such as animals like hedgehogs.

As the world continues to embrace technology, the IFA 2023 in Berlin serves as a platform for showcasing the latest advancements in AI and smart home technology, offering a glimpse into the future of living.
