Ice hockey charity event for wounded service members, reported in the news on June 1st, 2023

On the 4th of June, an exciting ice hockey match is set to take place at Cologne Arena 2, Gummersbacher Straße. The Cologne Fire Department and Cologne Police will face off in a game that aims to support injured emergency services personnel in Ratingen.

The event, which is expected to attract a large crowd, will feature various officials including Interior Minister Herbert Reul and Cologne Fire Chief Dr. Christian Miller. Notably, Dr. Miller will be playing defense for Backdraft Cologne.

The number of spectators in Cologne Arena 2 will be limited to 500 seats and approximately 100 standing places. For those who wish to express their solidarity but are unable to secure a seat, a live broadcast will be available in the garage hall of Fire Station 10 on the opposite side of the street.

Parking options include a gravel parking lot at Walter-Pauli-Ring and the public parking garage of the Cologne Arcaden with access from the Barcelona-Allee.

The proceeds from the event will be donated equally to the Ratingen Fire Protection Association and the David + Goliath Police Foundation. The total amount raised will be announced after the game.

The defense player for Backdraft Cologne in the ice hockey game on the 4th of June is yet to be publicly specified.

Following the training session on June 2nd at the Cologne Arena 2, the team coaches, along with Fire Chief Dr. Miller, will be available for media interviews around 9:45 AM.

On the day of the game, June 4th, several dignitaries including Interior Minister Reul, Police President Falk Schnabel, County Commissioner Thomas Hendele, City Director Andrea Blome, Police Mettmann's department head Thomas Schulte, and Ratingen Fire Chief René Schubert will be available for interviews and photos at Cologne Arena 2 from 3 pm.
