Ibanez enhances the tone of its popular nylon-string guitar with exotic wood upgrades, challenging Tim Henson's signature model for supremacy
In the ever-evolving world of music, two exciting developments have caught the attention of guitar enthusiasts and music lovers alike. On one side, Polyphia, the innovative band known for their intricate guitar work, is gearing up for the release of their heavy, eight-string-laden upcoming album, featuring a host of guest artists. On the other, Ibanez, a renowned guitar manufacturer, has unveiled the FRH10N, a nylon-string guitar that has become a sensation since its release in 2022.
Polyphia's guitarist has been instrumental in the creation of the TOD10N, which was one of the best-selling guitars in 2023. The band's upcoming album promises a "heavy" sound, with baritone guitars and potentially Scott LePage's signature X-type axe making an appearance. The producer of this upcoming masterpiece has been described as coming up with the most insane sounds you've ever heard.
Meanwhile, Ibanez has updated their standard-run FRH version of a nylon-string guitar. The FRH20QMN, as it's called, features an exotic tonewood and finish, a rosewood bridge, bone nut, and Gold Classical tuners for a traditional look. The guitar is an acoustic-electric model, equipped with an undersaddle Ibanez pickup, AEQ210T preamp, and an onboard tuner. The modified FR hollow body, complete with fan bracing for high fret access and a side-mounted sound hole, remains in the updated design.
New colorways have been introduced to the lineup, including Cosmic Blue Starburst Low Gloss and Wine Red Low Gloss finishes. The Ibanez FRH10N, a model that closely resembles Polyphia's guitarist's instrument, also has a left-handed version available.
The recipe of the build of the FRH10N was an instant fan favourite, and now, with the FRH20QMN, Ibanez has taken it to the next level. The guitar is powered by a 9V battery, accessed via a screwed-in compartment on the back of the guitar.
Polyphia has also revealed some of the guests featuring on their forthcoming album. The current Polyphia album, produced by Scott LePage, has already featured Turner and other collaborators, integrating polished production techniques that blend intricate guitar work with modern electronic textures.
As we eagerly await these exciting musical ventures, it's clear that the future of music is in safe hands with innovators like Polyphia and Ibanez leading the charge.
