In a significant development, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a massive strike on Yemen's Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthis, in Sanaa, Yemen, on August 28. The operation, named "Operation Lucky Strike," was initiated in response to the Houthis' continued attacks on Israel, which escalated following the IDF's military operations in the Gaza Strip.

The IDF's primary target was Muhammad al-Ghamari, the chief of staff of Ansar Allah, who, along with Muhammad al-Atifi, the defense minister in the Ansar Allah government, have been responsible for organizing the constant launches of drones and rockets towards Israel. Ahmed Galeeb al-Ra'ei, the prime minister of the rebel government, was reportedly killed in the IDF strikes.

The IDF's response was facilitated by an enhanced Israeli intelligence network in Yemen, a significant contribution to the operation's success. This expanded surveillance network is a recent development, as Israel did not have agents on the ground in Yemen two years ago.

The Houthis' military capabilities have not been significantly weakened by the US military, despite efforts under both the 46th US President, Joe Biden, and the current presidential administration. In fact, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, the leader of Ansar Allah, announced that the group has started producing cluster warheads for the Palestine-2 ballistic missiles, increasing the destructive potential of their rockets. This success in producing military equipment is a source of concern for Israel, as stated by Abdul-Malik al-Houthi.

The Houthis' continued attacks on Israel are a response to the IDF's military operations in the Gaza Strip. However, the IDF wants to demonstrate a response to any rocket or drone launch from the Yemeni side without escalating attacks from the Yemeni side.

Iran is believed to be actively supporting the military equipment production of Ansar Allah. Despite this, the IDF does not want an escalation of attacks from the Yemeni side. The Houthis' leader, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, stated that the group will not stop its attacks on Israel until the IDF ends its military operations in the Gaza Strip.

The establishment of the Israeli-Yemeni relations in the last two years is under the responsibility of an unnamed Israeli Foreign Minister. The details of this development are not explicitly named in the available search results.
