Hundreds of young individuals take part in Cebu Youth Fair event

The first-ever Cebu Youth Fair, named "Abtik Conversations," took place on August 24, 2025, as part of the 456th Founding Anniversary celebrations of the Province of Cebu. Organised by youth leader Marven Gorgonio and the Provincial Information Office, the fair received support from various provincial offices.

Over 200 young people from across Cebu province attended the event, which aimed to provide young leaders with skills and information. Discussions covered topics such as entrepreneurship, responsible social media use, mental health, and environmental action.

Governor Pamela Baricuatro, who considers the youth as partners in her administration, reactivated the Provincial Youth Commission (PYC) as one of her first executive orders. The PYC is tasked with strengthening and expanding youth programs in coordination with the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation.

Vice Governor Glenn Soco was a speaker at the fair, sharing his personal story and encouraging the youth to be active in their communities. He emphasised the importance of youth involvement in shaping the future of Cebu.

The Department of Science and Technology also participated in the fair, presenting its scholarship opportunities and other programs for young Cebuanos. The fair marked a new push by Governor Baricuatro's administration to prioritise the youth.

The gathering brought together Sangguniang Kabataan Federation presidents, Local Youth Development officers, and other young leaders. The event was a testament to the collaboration between the provincial government and the youth in driving positive change.

The Cebu Youth Fair was one of the highlights of the 456th Founding Anniversary celebrations of the Province of Cebu, signifying a significant step towards empowering the youth of Cebu. With the successful launch of the fair, it is expected to become an annual event, fostering a culture of youth engagement and leadership in the province.
