Their romantic connection is often concealed. - Hummels' girlfriend joins him on flight to Wembley
This morning, Borussia Dortmund (BVB) started their mission "Henkelpott" at Dortmund Airport. The black-and-yellow plane EW1909 departed a bit late at 12:01 p.m. en route to London-Luton.
For the Dortmund team, the Champions League final against Real Madrid (Saturday, 9 p.m., ZDF) is their most crucial game of the season, and maybe even the last few years. Their objective is clear: To win the trophy back after their last European success in 1997!

At 11:08 a.m., the black-and-yellow team bus arrived at the airport, where the Dortmund players were greeted by roughly 300 fans. The slogan "Borussia Dortmund international" could be heard throughout the airport, and Marco Reus (today 35 years old) also had a birthday celebration.

Apart from Reus, Mats Hummels (35) also received a special reception. He left the airport wearing sunglasses and thick black Apple headphones (around 500 euros) as one of the last to leave.
The venue might be Hummels' last game in black and yellow. In that case, he'll have some support: His model girlfriend Nicola Cavanis (24, 1.8 million Instagram followers) will be accompanying him to the most important game of the year. Typically, the two keep their relationship out of the public's attention. But for a Champions League final, they made an exception.
For more glamour at the airport, the numerous player wives were present, such as Scarlett Gartmann-Reus (30), Katja Kühn (39, Marcel Sabitzer), Emely Tuinder (Ian Maatsen), Melissa Halter (Niklas Süle), and Lisa Füllkrug, who'd also travel to London for support.
Intriguingly, most players were loaded with a lot of baggage for the short 1.5-hour flight. Marco Reus (35) and Marius Wolf (29) came with green-and-white Louis Vuitton bags worth several thousand euros.
Julian Brandt (28) and Karim Adeyemi (22) opted for simpler Louis Vuitton travel bags (around 2,200 euros). And Ian Maatsen (22) brought a fan-favorite: the bright orange backpack from the Goyard brand.
After arriving in London, it's a direct trip to the hotel for the BVB players. In the evening, there'll be a press conference (8 p.m.), followed by a final training session (8:45 p.m.). And then, of course, the main event - the most important game of the season (9 p.m., ZDF).
