How 9,200 Local Ideas Transformed Moscow's Cultural Landscape

Moscow's residents have shaped the city's cultural scene through thousands of local projects. Since 2014, the 'City of Ideas' platform has turned over 9,200 proposals into reality. From creative workshops to nature clubs, these initiatives are now part of daily life across the capital.

The 'City of Ideas' platform was launched in 2014 to gather suggestions from Muscovites. Over 637,000 users have registered, submitting more than 3,400 proposals in the last five years alone. Many of these ideas have already been put into action.

Workshops for children and teenagers now take place in libraries and cultural centres across Moscow. Residents have also organised gardening tours, nature clubs, and creative sessions in local parks. The cultural sector alone has seen over 440 proposals, with a large number already implemented. The platform's 'Submit an Idea' section allows anyone to suggest improvements for their neighbourhood. From small events to larger projects, the system helps turn community suggestions into official programmes.

The platform continues to expand, with thousands of resident-led projects already completed. Over 9,200 ideas have been realised since 2014, changing how Muscovites engage with their city. Libraries, parks, and cultural spaces now reflect the input of local communities.
