Houthis and IDF confirm: Elimination of Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed conducting a strike on Thursday, targeting a facility hosting senior Houthi officials. The facility, reported to have hosted dozens of senior officials of the Houthi terrorist regime, was the site of a significant blow to the Houthi leadership.
According to reports, the IDF strike eliminated Ahmed Al-Rahawi, the Houthi Prime Minister, and several other senior Houthi officials. Among the high-ranking officials killed were the Foreign Minister, Justice Minister, Welfare and Labor Minister, Youth and Sports Minister, government secretary, Deputy Interior Minister, and two of al-Rahawi's aides.
However, the status of key Houthi officials remains uncertain. Houthi Defense Minister Mohammad Nasser al-Atifi was reportedly severely injured but not killed in the IDF strike. The Houthi's Chief of Staff, Muhammad Abd Al-Karim al-Ghamari, is yet to be confirmed as eliminated due to conflicting reports and lack of official confirmation from involved parties.
The IDF strike was guided by intelligence from the IDF Intelligence Directorate and was aimed at senior officials responsible for the use of force, the military buildup of the Houthi group, and the advancement of terror actions against Israel. Other key Senior Houthi officials were also present at the targeted facility.
The elimination of Ahmed al-Rahawi follows the news of the Houthi rebel group's leader, Prime Minister Ahmed al-Rahawi, being killed earlier this week. The impact of these losses on the Houthi group's leadership and operations remains to be seen.
