Housing economist Daniel Fuhrhop discourses on unseen housing impacts
In the Historic Hall of Marburg Town Hall, Mayor Dr. Thomas Spies will open the Marburger City Talk on September 3rd, at 7 PM. This event, moderated by Councilor Dr. Michael Kopatz, will delve into various municipal challenges and potential solutions, including housing shortages, land conflicts, climate protection, and demographic change.
The focus of the discussion will be on "Invisible Housing," a concept presented by economist and housing expert Dr. Daniel Fuhrhop. Invisible housing refers to architectural solutions that aim to integrate housing discreetly into existing environments, preserving landscape and cultural assets without visually dominating them. Examples include projects where new residential units are built underground, within old walls, or cleverly camouflaged.
Dr. Fuhrhop, who specializes in social housing, sustainable urban development, and livable cities, will present solutions for creating numerous new apartments in existing buildings. The discussion will cover understanding invisible housing, mobilizing invisible housing, and improving quality of life through invisible housing.
The city of Marburg is exploring different approaches to find suitable housing and is learning from other practical examples. The City Talk will provide insights on how a mix of measures can address these challenges, offering a unique opportunity for residents and stakeholders to engage in dialogue about the future of Marburg's city life.
