House Fire with Multiple Rescues Reported
The Hattingen Fire Department was called to a heavily smoked apartment in Blankenstein at 17:32, according to a report from the fire department.
Upon arrival, another team gained access to the apartment via a portable ladder set up at the balcony. No one was found during the search, as neighbors had previously checked the apartment via the balcony and found no one inside.
Initial reports suggested that a person was still inside the apartment, but it was quickly determined on site that there was no one in distress. Burnt food was found on the stove, and the emergency services turned off the stove as a precautionary measure.
The incident command for the firefighting operation in Hattingen on the evening of the day was managed from the fire brigade's operations center at Henrichshütte, with the city's crisis management team convening at the main fire station involving both the fire department and the public order office.
Shortly after all emergency services were back in service, the automatic fire alarm system of a Hattingen clinic went off. However, it was quickly established that the clinic's fire alarm was a false alarm.
