Hotel under scrutiny due to reported danger

On July 18, 2025, a bomb threat was reported to the Bavarian Police Headquarters North against a hotel located near the central station in Augsburg, Germany. The threat was made by an unknown individual via phone.

At around 10:00 AM, the police received the report and swiftly mobilised numerous units to the scene. The hotel and its surroundings, including the streets and buildings in the vicinity, were searched with bomb-sniffing dogs.

During the operation, a 47-year-old suspect was arrested in relation to the bomb threat. The police blocked off relevant access roads during the search to ensure safety. Despite the extensive search, no suspicious items were found.

The on-site measures related to the bomb threat were concluded around 1:00 PM, and the blocked area was reopened. The police clarified the nature and content of the threat and its background, and they initiated investigations into the unknown individual who made the threat.

No further details about the identity of the suspect or any potential motives were provided. The police responded to the incident with the utmost seriousness, causing traffic disruptions and affecting parts of public transportation.
