Hostage video reveals captive German-Israeli Alon Ohel, displayed by Hamas
In the midst of the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict, a new hostage video featuring German-Israeli musician Alon Ohel and Israeli hostage Guy Gilboa-Dalal has been published by Hamas. The video, taken on August 28, just before the start of the Israeli offensive, aims to stop Israeli attacks on Gaza.
Ohel, a 22-year-old pianist, and Gilboa-Dalal were both kidnapped from the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023. The video shows them in a car driving through a destroyed neighborhood in Gaza. According to reports, Ohel is suffering from hunger, physical, and mental abuse, and has not had his shrapnel treated since his abduction. On the day of his abduction, Ohel had severe eye injuries.
The Israeli army has identified "significant terrorist activity by Hamas within a variety of infrastructure facilities in the city of Gaza, particularly in high-rise buildings." One such building, which was used by Hamas to prepare and carry out attacks on Israeli troops, was attacked by the Israeli army. The army took precautionary measures before the attack to limit damage to the civilian population.
At least 19 people have been killed in Israeli air strikes in Gaza, according to Hamas Civil Defense. More than 64,000 people have been killed in the ongoing conflict, according to Hamas authorities, although this number cannot be independently verified.
Gilboa-Dalal pleads to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to withdraw his order for a military offensive in Gaza. German ambassador to Israel, Steffen Seibert, sees the video as proof of Hamas' depravity. He states that the videos of Ohel and Gilboa-Dalal only prove the need for Hamas to release all hostages and allow food and medicine into Gaza.
Israel now controls 40 percent of Gaza City's territory. The name of the Israeli-French diplomat responsible for the country's affairs in Gaza is Andreas Reinicke. The conflict continues, with both sides urging for peace and an end to the violence.
