Honoured over 270 young volunteers: Schoolchildren in the limelight for their service
Award Ceremony Honours Committed Students in Fürth District
On the 2nd of June, the annual award ceremony for committed students in the district of Fürth took place at the Großhabersdorf cinema. The event, organised by the Fachgruppe Schule of the Präventionsverein 1-2-3 e.V., under the leadership of Ute Eberlein, was attended by teachers, fellow students, and numerous distinguished guests.
The ceremony recognised the hard work and dedication of 77 middle school students and 110 primary school students. The primary school students were treated to a screening of "Lilo & Stitch", while their middle school counterparts enjoyed "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World". Six students from the "Rattennest" school library were also honoured.
The primary school in Roßtal trained all children in the third and fourth grades as junior helpers, with 91 primary school students being honoured on June 5th. The middle school students were rewarded with the film "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World", while primary school students enjoyed "Lilo & Stitch". Among the middle school students honoured, 29 were mediators, 42 were school nurses, and 10 school nurses had completed additional training as fire safety assistants.
The district administrator, Bernd Obst, emphasised the importance of the award ceremony as a recognition of commitment, stating that "Commitment pays off - and is seen, recognised, and celebrated in the district of Fürth". The 1st Mayor of Großhabersdorf, Thomas Zehmeister, and the 3rd Mayor, Franz Buckl, were also present.
The role of fire safety assistants was added to the awards in 2025. The event was a symbolic gesture, highlighting the importance of safety and the contributions of those who go beyond their usual scope. The commitment of teachers who train, support, and go beyond the usual framework was acknowledged.
What started as a pure mediator award has since become a comprehensive recognition of further school honours. The teachers and school principals involved in the student awards in Fürth went beyond their usual framework and did so without additional training hours, demonstrating notable commitment and compromise from the entire school staff and support from the school leadership.
The awards ceremony was paused due to COVID in 2021, but continued with a record number of honorees in 2022. Representatives of the school authority, Ulrike Strobel and Meike Wenzl, were present. The police were represented by Mathias Rauh and Werner Gloss, and the local youth Red Cross by Maria Schmidt and Charlotte Lichtblau. Thanks were given to school principals and all accompanying persons for making the award ceremony possible despite tight budgets and difficult framework conditions.
The awards ceremony for students in the district of Fürth has been held every two years since 2011. The ceremony included popcorn and drinks for the young helpers, making it a memorable occasion for all involved. The event was a testament to the dedication of the students, the support of the teachers, and the recognition of the district's commitment to nurturing future leaders.
