Homelessness: Highlighting the Struggles and Challenges on this Particular Day
On September 11, 2025, the City of Bamberg, in partnership with "People in Need" and the International Bund, will set up an information booth at the Lower Bridge. This event aims to educate the public, dispel stereotypes, and highlight support services for housing and homelessness in the city.
The meeting point "People in Need," a charitable institution in Bamberg, provides a central point of contact, warming room, counseling center, and other low-threshold support services for homeless people. The information booth will showcase concrete support services available in Bamberg to help people out of housinglessness and homelessness.
Housinglessness, often a result of various circumstances such as loss of employment, serious illness, family crises, or psychological problems, is a concern that the City of Bamberg aims to address. To help affected people, apartments from housing companies and private landlords are needed. Interested parties can register directly at the information booth on September 11, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The goal of the information booth is not only to inform but also to engage the public. A small quiz will be offered to test the public's knowledge and educate them further about housing and homelessness. Experts from the cooperation partners will be available for conversations with citizens and will answer questions about support services in Bamberg.
Social Affairs Officer and Deputy Mayor Jonas Glüsenkamp will also be available as a contact person for citizens at the information booth. He emphasises the city's commitment to preventing homelessness and housinglessness as much as possible.
For those seeking additional information or assistance, the Office for Social Affairs - Department of Adult Assistance can be contacted at mario-christian.schmidt@our website. The "Kompass" project, a collaboration between the City of Bamberg and the International Bund, offers help for people in difficult life situations.
This event is a significant step towards raising awareness and providing support for those in need. By attending, citizens can learn more about the situation of those affected and contribute to making a difference in their community.
