"Home-based Cultural Event Organizer: Hormur, Enabling You to Stage Cultural Gatherings in Your Own Home"
In the world of arts and entertainment, a new platform is making waves by connecting artists with hosts for small, private events in homes across France. Known as Hormur, this innovative application has already convinced approximately 800 hosts to open their doors for concerts, theatre performances, and exhibitions.
One such host is Axelle de Fontgalland, who transformed her living room into a theatre stage for a concert an hour from Paris. The event brought together around 20 people, including a first-time spectator from Chartres, whose identity remains unknown to Axelle. The concert featured Brice Kapel, a Togo-born singer-songwriter, who performed an intimate set that got the attendees dancing.
For Axelle, the concert was more than just a musical event; it was a chance to bring people together. She aims to create moments of sharing, and to encourage this, she plans to invite her neighbours to future events. Hosting events through Hormur, according to Axelle, is a straightforward process. She expects her guests to contribute to the event by bringing food, making it a communal affair.
The ticket prices for events on Hormur range from 10 to 15 euros. Another host, Charlotte Lagrange, chose a play with an immersive audience experience for a closed family circle. She found the process of hosting through Hormur easy and enjoyable, and she's already planning her next event.
Martin Jeudy, the creator of Hormur, designed the platform to make it simple for users to find events near them. With around 1 to 5 events per day available, there's always something new to discover. Psychological barriers can exist when hosting events, but those who have done it through Hormur find themselves wanting to do it again.
One such example is Caroline Ieroux, who moved her furniture to accommodate a theatre stage in her living room. She found the experience rewarding and is looking forward to hosting more events in the future.
In addition to the homes of ordinary people, Hormur also partners with creation spaces like La Ménardière in Berat. This space offers shows all year round and accommodates guests. With its unique approach to arts and entertainment, Hormur is certainly shaking up the scene and providing new opportunities for both artists and hosts.
