Historic Triumph at Shymkent: India Secures 99 Medals, Including 50 Gold, in the Asian Shooting Championship
India's shooters made a triumphant return from the 2025 Asian Shooting Championships held in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, where they bagged an impressive 99 medals.
The championship saw several Indian athletes clinching gold medals across various events.
In the 50m rifle prone event, Manini Kaushik won the bronze medal with a commendable score of 617.8. Meanwhile, in the Men's Individual, Skeet event, Anantjeet Singh Naruka secured the gold medal for India.
Elavenil Valarivan and Sift Kaur Samra shone in the Women's 10m Air Rifle and Women's 50-meter rifle three positions individual events respectively, both claiming gold medals for India.
Rajkanwar Singh Sandhu excelled in the 25m centre fire pistol event, earning the gold medal with a score of 583. Kapil Bainsla won the Men's Individual, 10m Air Pistol, and Rashmika Sahgal clinched the Women's Individual, 10m Air Pistol and Women's Team, 10m Air Pistol titles.
The Indian Men's Team also made a mark in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event, with Sameer Gulia, Suraj Sharma, and Abhinav Choudhary taking home the gold medal.
Payal Khatri and Sabeera Haris added to India's tally by winning the Women's Individual, 25m Pistol and Women's Individual, Trap events respectively.
In the team events, Vietnam's team emerged victorious in the 25m centre fire pistol team event with a score of 1,733.
India's Ankur Mittal won the Men's double trap event with an impressive 107 hits, while In the women's double trap event, Anushka Singh Bhati clinched the gold, Rajkuwar Pranil Ingle won the silver, and Yeshaya Hafiz Contractor won the bronze.
The Men's double trap event also saw a strong performance from Kazakhstan's Artyom Chikulayev, who finished second with 98 hits, and Kuwait's Ahmad Alaffasi who took the third spot with 96 hits.
The Silver medal in the Men's Team, Trap event went to Aryavansh Tyagi, Arjun, and Udhav Singh Rathore.
This impressive showing at the 2025 Asian Shooting Championships underscores India's growing strength in the field of shooting sports.
