Highway Fire Triggers Severe Traffic Congestion
This morning, a dramatic incident unfolded on the A46 highway near the Iserlohn Zentrum exit, as a burning car was reported.
Upon arrival, the Iserlohn Fire Department confirmed the report and swiftly took action. Two handheld attack lines were deployed to extinguish the blaze. Fortunately, the driver of the burning car managed to pull over to the right side of the road and was unharmed.
The incident, which occurred on the A46 highway heading towards Hagen, also resulted in a nearby construction site and surrounding bushes catching fire. However, the firefighters were able to quickly contain the blaze, and the bushes set ablaze by the burning fuel were also extinguished.
Both lanes heading towards Hagen had to be closed during the operation to ensure the safety of the firefighters and other motorists. After approximately 1.5 hours, the scene was handed over to the police, and the firefighters returned to their station following the incident.
