Highlighting Jewish presence in Dortmund: Continued Events in the Second Half of 2025
The Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation in Dortmund has announced an exciting half-year program filled with events that promote dialogue, diversity, and solidarity. Here's a rundown of what you can expect in the coming months.
On September 14, 2025, music lovers can enjoy the "Jiddish Soulfood" concert at the Dietrich-Keuning-House. Sharon Brauner and Harry Ermer will take the stage for an evening of Jewish melodies.
The following day, author Dana von Suffrin will present her edited book "Wir schon wieder" at the same venue. The book features 16 contemporary Jewish narrative contributions and offers a platform for Jewish voices of the present.
On September 21, 2025, a public statement against antisemitism and for diverse togetherness will be made with the "Path of Connectedness" tour in Dortmund's city center. The tour starts at 3 pm at Hansastraße and includes music, actions, and information.
On September 26, 2025, Anna Ben-Shlomo will offer a synagogue tour with an introduction to Shabbat traditions. Participation is free, but registration is required.
The exhibition "Chut adom - 100 red ribbons" will be held at the Dietrich-Keuning-House from September 2 to September 27, 2025. The opening will take place on September 2, 2025, at 7 pm and features artist Era Freidzon, a dance group from the Jewish community, and a contribution by Alexander Krimhand.
Klaus Winter will offer a tour of Dortmund's main cemetery on September 28, 2025, at 3 pm, providing insights into Jewish memorial culture.
The program will conclude with the reading "Shalom together!" featuring queer Jewish activist Tanya Raab on December 4. The reading tells of identity, antisemitism, stereotypes, and the desire for a more honest memory culture in Germany.
A further training course on antisemitism in schools will take place on November 13 at the Reinoldinum. Helene Shani Braun and Mareike Gintzel will discuss religious diversity and LGBTQI* on November 26 at VHS Dortmund. The event "Queer in Judaism and Christianity" is a special highlight on this day.
The concert "Jiddish Soulfood" spans Jewish sound worlds of the 20th century, from Eastern Europe to Hollywood. Tickets are five euros for members and ten euros for others.
The Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation warmly invites you to participate in this program, which sets a strong example for dialogue, diversity, and solidarity. For more information, you can find the program flyer as a PDF at gcjz-dortmund.de/Programmflyer.
