Latvia's local council primaries are underway, and here's a roundup of the key facts so far.

The election process is scheduled to continue for two more days, with early voting ending on June 5th and 6th. Polling stations will be open on Thursday, June 5, from 08:00 to 11:00, and on Friday, June 6, from 12:00 to 15:00. On the main election day, June 7th, polling stations will be open from 08:00 to 20:00.

The voting process proceeded smoothly after a brief disruption on Monday evening. The State Digital Development Agency (VDAA) managed to eliminate all failures in the electoral system, ensuring that the election process could continue according to the usual voting procedure. There were no significant hitches in the operation of the electoral system on Tuesday.

Initially, the malfunction of the online voter register on Wednesday was attributed to a potential external threat. However, it later became clear that the high demand for the electronic online voter registration service caused the system malfunction. The online voter register resumed operations around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

This year, 1,377,183 residents are eligible to vote in the local council primaries.

The search results do not provide specific information about which municipality in the Riga region has achieved the highest voter turnout in the local council primaries. Stay tuned for more updates as the voting process continues.
