High-speed Internet upgrades by Vodafone: construction of new data routes to serve approximately 2,300 homes in the Schwalm-Eder district
Vodafone Tops CHIP Fixed Network Test 2024
In a significant milestone for Germany's communications sector, Vodafone has been named the test winner in the CHIP Fixed Network Test 2024 among national providers. The telecommunications giant received top marks for its price-performance ratio and the highest average bandwidth.
This victory comes as Vodafone continues to prioritise network expansion and reliability. Each Vodafone customer, on average, now enjoys significantly more reliable speeds, a factor that has positively impacted streaming, online gaming, and virtual work from home quality.
Vodafone's commitment to expanding the broadband network is evident in its ambitious plans for the future. In collaboration with OXG, a joint venture established in 2023, Vodafone aims to set up up to 7 million new FTTH fiber optic connections in the coming years.
One of the recent projects that highlight Vodafone's dedication is the modernization project in Schwalm-Eder County, Germany. This initiative includes the laying of new fiber optic cables and the construction of additional fiber optic nodes, benefiting approximately 2,300 cable households in Schwalmstadt.
Data traffic in Schwalm-Eder County is growing rapidly, with an annual growth rate of currently 12%. The new infrastructure provides sufficient capacity for data-intensive applications such as video conferencing, music, and video streaming.
Vodafone's corporate culture values diversity and promotes it through various measures, including offers for reconciling family and career, networks for women, fathers, or LGBT+. The company's investments in expanding the broadband network aim to meet the strong demand from the population.
Last year, Vodafone carried out over 3,500 construction measures in many cities and counties across Germany to improve network quality. These efforts have resulted in significantly fewer internet users being simultaneously active in the same area in Vodafone's network, ensuring a stable and powerful fixed network for its customers.
As a leading communications conglomerate in Germany, Vodafone connects people, machines, families, friends, politics, economy, and society. The company, which generates an annual total turnover of approximately 13 billion euros with around 15,000 employees, aims to be carbon neutral by 2025 and emission-free by 2040, already covering 100% of its power demand with renewable energies today.
Vodafone provides internet, mobile, fixed-line, and TV services all in one, making it a one-stop solution for communication needs. With its focus on network expansion, reliability, and sustainability, Vodafone continues to set the standard in the German communications industry.
