High School's Boys Basketball Coaching Position Filled by Successful Manager of the Girls' Basketball Program
New Head Coach for Cooper Boys' Basketball Team
Justin Holthaus has been appointed as the new head coach for the Cooper boys' basketball team, following the announcement of Tim Sullivan's departure three weeks ago. Holthaus, who previously held the position of head coach for the girls' basketball team at Cooper, will take over the reins starting from the 2021-2022 season.
Holthaus has had a remarkable tenure with the girls' team, leading them to four consecutive 9th Region championships over the past five seasons. During this period, the team has compiled a record of 128-30, demonstrating a consistent level of success. The girls' basketball team has also made it to the state tournament semifinals twice under Holthaus' leadership.
Before taking over as the girls' head coach in 2020, Holthaus served as an assistant coach under Sullivan for the boys' team. He was a significant part of the team that won its first 9th Region championship in 2017 and was also a part of the team that was runner-up in an unspecified year.
Holthaus has expressed his excitement about continuing to work with Cooper's elite athletes and supporting their growth on and off the court. He also stated his commitment to building on the foundation of Cooper's proud basketball tradition. Randy Borchers, the athletic director at Cooper, is confident that Holthaus will bring the same level of excellence to the boys' basketball program.
Meanwhile, Sullivan has recently been named head coach at St. Henry High School. Under his guidance, the Cooper boys' team had a successful run, with the Jaguars winning their second 9th Region title and making it to the state tournament quarterfinals in the past season. Sullivan has won more than 300 games during his coaching career.
The search results do not provide information about who took over as the new head coach of the Cooper youth basketball team after Sullivan's contract was not renewed.
Holthaus has expressed his intention to represent the Cooper Community with pride and looks forward to leading the boys' team to future victories. With his proven track record of success, fans and supporters are eager to see what the future holds for the Cooper boys' basketball team under Holthaus' leadership.
