High-profile poker personalities Mizrachi, Boeree, and Koon affirmed their participation in the revival of the classic televised poker tournament.

The National Heads-Up Poker Championship is making a comeback this fall, marking the first iteration since PokerGO took over the rights to the show. In partnership with PokerStars, the tournament is set to feature a single-elimination bracket with a $25,000 buy-in.

The Championship will see the return of some familiar faces, including Phil Hellmuth, Huck Seed, and Ted Forrest, who have all previously claimed the title. There will also be a new female contender, as the Championship had only one female champion, Annie Duke, in 2010.

The 2025 edition of the tournament will feature 64 participants, including well-known poker professionals, celebrities, entrepreneurs, and content creators. Confirmed players include Michael Mizrachi, Jason Koon, Liv Boeree, Bryce Hall, Richard Seymour, Chris Moneymaker, Erik Seidel, Doug Polk, Phil Galfond, Shaun Deeb, Nick Wright, T.J. Lavin, Rob Riggle, and Rob “Boston Rob” Mariano. More celebrity names are expected to be announced as the event approaches.

The Championship has a rich history, having had several past champions, including Phil Hellmuth, Ted Forrest, Paul Wasicka, Chris Ferguson, Huck Seed, Annie Duke, and Erik Seidel. However, since 2013, there has been no repeat champion, with Mike Matusow being the defending champion from that year.

The episodes of the National Heads-Up Poker Championship will premiere exclusively on Peacock, with later availability on PokerGO and PokerStars platforms. The Championship has helped define the golden era of televised poker, as stated by Mori Eskandani, President of PokerGO.

This year's Championship is not just limited to poker stars; the list of invited stars includes personalities from beyond the poker world. The return of the National Heads-Up Poker Championship promises an exciting and entertaining event for both poker enthusiasts and casual viewers alike.
