High-Performance Gordon Murray Le Mans GTR Showcases Carbon Construction and Cult Following
Gordon Murray Special Vehicle (GMSV) has revealed the Le Mans GTR, a limited edition sports car inspired by the iconic Longtail racing cars of the 1970s to 1990s. The British sports car manufacturer has built only 24 units of this extraordinary vehicle, all of which have been sold out.
The Le Mans GTR is a Longtail variant of the T.50, boasting a distinctive aerodynamic design. At its heart lies a V12 naturally aspirated engine, capable of reaching up to 12,000 rpm. The power of the 4-liter engine in the GTR remains undisclosed, but in the T.50, the same engine delivers at least 488 kW/663 PS.
The power is transmitted to a manual 6-speed transmission from Xtrac. The Le Mans GTR is designed for use on racetracks, and as such, it features a stiffer and lighter suspension, a wider track, larger tires, and better cooling.
The cockpit of the Le Mans GTR offers a mix of digital and analog displays, with the driver seated centrally in a racing seat. On the dashboard, there are small displays that show images from the digital rearview mirrors. The carbon-heavy interior is both sporty and luxurious.
The Le Mans GTR is a road-legal sports car that can be used as a track vehicle upon request. It is slightly offset towards the rear to accommodate two more seats for passengers. The purchase price of the Le Mans GTR is likely to be several million euros, but GMSV remains silent about the exact amount.
The Le Mans GTR is a homage to the racing cars that have competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Each of the 24 sold examples represents one hour of the iconic race. The enthusiasts and collectors who purchased these unique, race-oriented vehicles sought a piece of motorsport history.
Production of the first Le Mans GTR is set to begin in 2026. The British sports car manufacturer remains tight-lipped about the purchase price of each unit, leaving the world to speculate and marvel at this exclusive piece of automotive art.
