In a surprise reveal, Team Cherry, the developers behind the critically acclaimed Hollow Knight, have announced the pricing for its highly-anticipated sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong. The game, set to launch on September 4, 2025, across various platforms, is expected to retail digitally for $20.

The alleged price of Hollow Knight: Silksong has been met with a mixed response from the gaming community. Many are pleasantly surprised that the price is more reasonable than most people expected from a sequel that's been in development for almost a decade. However, some commentators have claimed they couldn't purchase the sequel from a Gamestop listing, adding to the confusion.

Leaker Billbil-Kun has corroborated the $20 price point, suggesting that the listing error may have been a mere oversight. Interestingly, a now-deleted Gamestop listing also suggested that the Switch 2 version of Silksong would be available for the same price.

The final retail price on Steam for Hollow Knight: Silksong is expected to be $19.99/£16.75/€19.50, with GOG pricing expected to be slightly varied. Prices for console versions of Silksong, however, remain a mystery.

The price increase for Silksong from the original game is approximately $5. This is a significant decrease compared to some other indie games like Hades 2, which are more expensive than their predecessors. Furthermore, some publishers have attempted to release $80 AAA games, making Hollow Knight: Silksong's pricing even more appealing.

The delay of Hollow Knight: Silksong has been compared to a small organism trying to avoid a large predator. The delay has caused at least 8 other indie games to be delayed in the 5 days since its September release date was announced.

Despite the delay, the reasonable pricing of Hollow Knight: Silksong has been a beacon of hope for many gamers. As we approach the game's release date, fans are eagerly waiting to explore the intricate world of Silksong and continue the journey of their beloved characters.
