Porsche Panamera Hybrid Models Experience High Demand, Causing Production Issues

The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, the new top-of-the-range model for the Panamera, is experiencing a surge in popularity across Europe, the UK, Belgium, and France. In these markets, the hybrid Panamera accounts for an average of 60% of sales, with Belgium seeing as much as 90% and France 70%.

This increased demand for the hybrid models is causing production issues at Porsche, as the company struggles to meet the demand for batteries. As a result, the delivery time for the hybrid Panamera is currently 3-4 months longer than a non-hybrid Panamera.

The Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid, a plug-in hybrid model with the power of a V8 engine, is also experiencing high demand. This facelifted version of the Panamera, first revealed in April, qualifies for a £5,000 taxpayer incentive due to its low emissions.

The success of the Panamera Hybrid models is not unexpected, given the increasing production of hybrid cars by premium car makers such as Porsche. The decrease in diesel sales and the looming penalties for high emissions are driving the shift towards hybrid and electric vehicles.

The new Porsche Panamera Hybrid model will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, and the hybrid Panamera is now launching in the US and China, which could lead to increased production issues.

Given the high demand for the Panamera Hybrid models, Porsche should consider revising their forecasts for sales of upcoming hybrids and EVs, such as the Porsche Mission-E. The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, produced by Porsche AG, the German automobile manufacturer headquartered in Zuffenhausen, Germany, features a combined power output of 671bhp.

Despite the production issues, the official emissions of plug-in hybrid cars such as the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid have little relationship to their real-world emissions. This discrepancy highlights the need for more accurate and transparent emissions testing for hybrid and electric vehicles.
