HeroFest 2024 kicks off in Bern with record crowds and expanded attractions
The seventh HeroFest gaming festival has opened in Bern, drawing crowds to the Bernexpo site. Organisers expect over 20,000 visitors by Sunday, matching last year's attendance of around 25,000. This time, the event has expanded by 8,000 square metres to accommodate even more activities.
The festival kicked off on Friday afternoon with a packed schedule. Top e-sports players and stars are on hand for live duels with fans, while well-known personalities from the scene make appearances. Among them is the Swiss eSports club ZeroOneClan, hosting its own booth with activities on October 2-3.
Attendees can explore retro gaming consoles, try axe throwing, or browse gourmet food stands. Pokémon plush toys are also on offer, alongside a medieval market featuring live music. A homemade robot tournament adds another layer of entertainment. The event's popularity has led to fully booked hotels across Bern, as international cosplayers join the celebrations. Organisers aim to maintain last year's visitor numbers with the festival's mix of gaming, competitions, and themed attractions.
HeroFest runs until Sunday, offering a blend of e-sports, retro gaming, and live entertainment. With expanded space and a wide range of activities, the festival continues to grow as a major draw for gaming fans. Hotels remain at capacity, reflecting the event's strong appeal to both local and international visitors.
