Herford Hosts Landmark Conference on Combating Sexualized Violence

A major professional conference on addressing sexualized violence took place in Herford on November 18, 2025. Titled 'Sexualized Violence: Taking Responsibility, Strengthening Protection', the event brought together experts from across the region. Organizers reported record demand, with all available places filled well in advance.

The conference was jointly hosted by the youth welfare offices, local health departments, and a specialized counseling center for sexualized violence in Herford. Supporting partners included 'Diakonie Deutschland', the 'Evangelical Church of Westfalen', and 'Herford City Council'. Over 200 professionals from social work, education, healthcare, and law enforcement attended the fully booked event.

The conference provided training and resources for frontline professionals working with survivors and at-risk groups. Organizers highlighted the need for ongoing cooperation between agencies to improve prevention and response strategies. Follow-up initiatives are expected to build on the discussions held during the event.
