"Hemau eager for woodland expansion: Plans for novel leisure spot"

The city of Hemau is creating a new recreational area, dubbed the "Green Heart of Hemau", between Volksfestplatz and Waldfriedhof. As part of the "Tree for a Tree" campaign, the city is seeking donations of broad-crowned native deciduous trees to populate this new space.

The ideal trees for this project are lindens, maples, oaks, fruit trees, ashes, or birches, with an age of around 10 to 20 years and a trunk circumference of about 20 to 30 cm (measured at a height of one meter). These trees will not only contribute to the city's climate but also enhance its biodiversity.

Mayor Herbert Tischhöfer emphasized that this action aims to actively involve citizens in the design of the new recreational area. Citizens can donate suitable trees by contacting the Hemau city administration at Tel. 09491/94000 or by email at [email protected].

The city will organize and implement the relocation of donated trees. Strong deciduous trees from private gardens are particularly sought for the new recreational area. Each donated tree is a lasting contribution for future generations, helping to make the "Green Heart of Hemau" a thriving and beautiful space.

It's worth noting that an on-site assessment will be conducted to determine if a large tree transplantation is technically feasible and reasonable. The recreational area will be developed from a previously agriculturally used area.

This initiative is a step towards Hemau's main goal of planting as many native deciduous trees as possible in the new recreational area, contributing to the city's commitment to sustainability and environmental preservation. Each donated tree is a gain for the city's climate and biodiversity, and a testament to the active involvement of its citizens in shaping their community.
