In an effort to ensure the safety of all road users and protect infrastructure, the police conducted focus controls on the A2 highway near Hannover. The primary objective was to prevent traffic accidents, traffic jams, and damage to bridge structures due to inadequate cargo securing and overloading.

The focus controls resulted in the detection of several violations. A 12-axle vehicle, loaded with a cable drum on a loading rack, was found to be overloaded by 195%. The total weight of the vehicle, as determined during a weigh-in at the scene, was 118 tons, significantly exceeding the permitted limit.

The driver of the vehicle, a 61-year-old British man, was issued an administrative offense for the heavy transport he was operating. Furthermore, an administrative offense report was filed against him. The vehicle initially remained at the Kolberg rest area after its further travel was prohibited.

The driver presented an exemption permit for the heavy transport, but it was issued by the competent authority for a different route. Approval of routes for heavy transports by the originally responsible authorities is crucial to protect bridges from excessive loads.

Nine times, the enforcement forces prohibited further travel of vehicles found to be in violation of the regulations. A total of 39 administrative offenses were issued for various violations.

The police also uncovered two instances of misuse of license plates, for which two criminal complaints were filed.

During the focus controls, a total of 107 vehicles were checked, with 132 people. However, the search results do not provide information on who authorized the 12-axle truck with the cable drum on the A2 highway near Hannover.

The focus controls were conducted around 00:30, highlighting the police's commitment to maintaining road safety and preventing potential hazards at all hours.
