October is truly a month for the ages, as it also marks the 40th anniversary of Back To The Future, which will be re-released on the 31st. For those who prefer a touch of the supernatural, The Descent undergoes a 4K restoration and re-release on the 24th, while L'Atalante and The Sound of Music (celebrating its 60th anniversary) will also be gracing the silver screen.
November sees the re-release of two cinematic gems in 4K. On the 7th, Dogma returns, while One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest follows suit on the 17th.
As we approach the end of the year, How The Grinch Stole Christmas will be re-released for its 25th anniversary on the 5th of December.
Looking ahead to September, a veritable feast of cinematic treats awaits. Additionally, Jumanji will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a special cinema re-release.
The action doesn't stop there, as GoldenEye will also be re-released for its 30th anniversary on October 5th.
For those who prefer independent cinema, while specific single screenings of old films in UK cinemas remain elusive, there are several notable releases on Blu-ray and 4K formats planned for 2025. Titles such as "The Right and Left Hand of the Devil," "Karate Tiger," and "Beastmaster" are set to grace our homes, potentially coinciding with special screenings or retrospectives.
Lastly, the BFI London Film Festival in October 2025 may feature retrospectives or special showings of classic films, ensuring that 2025 is truly a year to remember for cinema lovers. The pièce de résistance, however, is the much-anticipated release of Avatar: The Way Of Water on October 3rd, 2025.
So, mark your calendars, cinemagoers! 2025 promises to be a year filled with cinematic delights for all tastes and ages.
