Harz Police Station in Focus: Recent Police Activities Examined
In two separate incidents on August 15, 2025, traffic accidents occurred in the towns of Dingelstedt and Halberstadt, Germany.
In Dingelstedt, a 49-year-old man from Dingelstedt caused a traffic accident by improperly overtaking a 42-year-old E-scooter rider from Halberstadt on state road 79. The collision took place at approximately 6:45 AM, leading to the E-scooter rider being seriously injured and hospitalized. The Harz Police Department has initiated an investigation against the 49-year-old driver for negligent bodily injury.
Meanwhile, in Halberstadt, a traffic accident occurred on the L79 road near Arbketal at around 11:10 PM. The accident involved a BMW and a VW car. The BMW, driven by an 18-year-old man from Halberstadt, intended to turn left onto Richard-Wagner-Straße. The accident occurred on Quedlinburger Straße.
As a result of this accident, both the BMW and the VW sustained significant damage, with estimates putting the total property damage at around 20,000 €. The BMW's passenger, a 16-year-old boy from Halberstadt, was lightly injured, while the VW was driven by a 19-year-old man from Halberstadt and had an 18-year-old girl from Halberstadt as a passenger. Both of these individuals were also lightly injured.
The E-scooter rider, who is not from Dingelstedt, was later treated at a hospital and released. The same applies to the passengers in the BMW and the VW.
The Harz Police Department has also initiated an investigation against the 18-year-old BMW driver for reckless endangerment. The E-scooter driver, who is not 18 years old, is not under investigation in this case.
