Hanover’s bold new exhibition confronts the hidden crisis of relationship violence

A new exhibition addressing domestic violence will open in Hanover next December. Titled 'Heartbeat – When Love Turns to Violence', the main event runs from December 11 to 17, 2025. Organisers aim to raise awareness, particularly among young people, about the risks of violence in relationships.

The Hanover Intervention Program Against Domestic Violence (HAIP) is behind the initiative. The exhibition forms part of a wider campaign led by the Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office. Police and specialist organisations have joined forces to inform the public and support victims.

The exhibition will offer education, resources, and direct support for those affected by domestic violence. By focusing on young people and accessible information, organisers hope to reduce stigma and encourage victims to seek help. The event marks a key step in Lower Saxony’s ongoing efforts to combat relationship abuse.
