The handball team SG Flensburg-Handewitt has progressed to the European League's final. They defeated Romanian champions Dinamo Bucharest in the semi-final with a score of 38:32 (18:11) held in Hamburg on Saturday. Emil Jakobsen and Andrii Akimenko were the top scorers of the match, scoring eleven and seven goals for Flensburg and Bucharest respectively. The second finalist was yet to be decided that evening in the match between defending champions Füchse Berlin and Rhein-Neckar Löwen.

SG's coach, Nicolej Krickau, shocked everyone with his starting line-up. Mads Mensah Larsen, a Danish player, played as the playmaker, and Kay Smits, a Dutchman, joined the team as the right back after recovering from a heart muscle inflammation. The Flensburg fans went wild when Smits scored in the ninth minute, increasing the score to 7:4.

Flensburg's solid defense helped them establish a secure position. Team captain Johannes Golla and goalkeeper Kevin Möller played vital roles, with Möller making great saves. Jakobsen scored three consecutive goals for Flensburg, giving them a comfortable lead of seven at halftime, with a score of 15:8 (24'). During the second half, the defenses on both sides loosened up. Despite the lax defense, Flensburg defended their lead effectively and advanced to the final deservingly.
