Hanau's open-air season kicks off with markets, music and jewelry fair

Hanau's open-air season begins this week with the after-work market running from March 25 to March 31. The event also marks the return of the city's popular 'Glanzstücke' jewelry fair, now in its 13th year. Visitors can expect gourmet food, live music, and a showcase of professional designers' work over the weekend.

The after-work market takes place around the Walloon-Dutch Church each evening from 4 to 9 p.m. It serves as the official start of Hanau's open-air programme, which includes long-standing events like 'Abendgold' and gatherings at 'Wirtschaft im Hof' and 'Kanzlei im Fronhof' near Schlossplatz.

The 'Glanzstücke' jewelry fair runs on Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Neustadt Town Hall on Marktplatz. This year's edition features 17 professional designers, reinforcing the fair's reputation as a key event in the industry since its 2011 debut. On Saturday at 6 p.m., the prestigious Hanau Jewelry Prize will be awarded, highlighting outstanding craftsmanship. The event series receives support from local partners, including Sparkasse Hanau, Hanau Municipal Utilities, and the Müller-Ditschler fashion house. Additional backing comes from media outlets like Hanauer Anzeiger and Hanauer Bote, as well as funding from Hesse's 'Future Inner City' programme. Over the coming months, Hanau's downtown will host more specialty markets, festivals, and street-life events under the motto 'Streetlife.'

The after-work market and 'Glanzstücke' fair set the stage for a lively season in Hanau. With food, music, and design at the centre, the city's open-air events will continue to draw crowds through the spring and summer. Organisers and sponsors aim to keep the downtown area vibrant with regular gatherings and cultural highlights.
